Like Nicole Richie, Eva Longoria and Lindsay Lohan, we fell head over heels in love with Disney’s dinky jewellery collection when it launched earlier this year. The delicate ‘Believe’ necklaces, chic enamel slogan bangles, and tiny Tinkerbell pendants were the surprise hit of the summer. Now Disney is taking it to the next level by teaming up with high fashion jeweller Tom Binns, to produce a collection inspired by Tim Burton’s latest movie, a gloriously over-the-top retelling of Alice in Wonderland. As the Irish designer himself says, 'This timeless story of Lewis Caroll married with the wonderful world of Disney and Tim Burton's interpretation offers so much philosophical fantasy and peculiar surreal imagination. It opens up a labyrinth of doors for my paticular way of seeing the world, allowing me to express my fashion experience with my interest in art and cinema.
The Tom Binns for Walt Disney Signature line will, like the movie, debut in Spring 2010, and the collection is comprised of six limited edition baubles ranging from £500-£1,000, as well as a cheaper 35-piece line ranging from £50-£250. The range is one in a series of Alice-inspired fashion collaborations, and Tom Binns's fine jewellery collection is the first to debut. We don’t know who else is slated for the fashion collaborations, but might we propose Stephen Jones as the perfect mad hatter? And perhaps some yummy stripey tights from Wolford?
