Psychedelic wallpaper and micro-floral print upholstered vintage furniture isn’t exactly the first thing that comes to mind when you hear MegMathews has made her first foray into the design world. But she’s thrown off her former rock-chick mantle to create a range for Liberty department store’s PrintsCharming exhibition. ‘I was redecorating my bedroom after I came out of rehab, and when I was told it wasn’t possible to have the whole room wallpapered with black print and Swarovski crystals, I decided I’d just do it myself,’ Meg told us about how she started out. Delving deep into the Liberty archives and taking inspiration from her favourite fashion motifs – the McQueen skull and pineapple jewellery – she’s created hand-printed wallpaper, which is already gathering an A-list following. ‘VictoriaBeckham called me after she saw my house to ask me to create something special for her.’ The wallpaper and furniture is on sale at London’s Liberty department store and here you can watch Meg talking through her collection in person.
