We can’t think of many better ways to spend a Tuesday afternoon than having lunch at Harvey Nichols with Mulberry creative director Emma Hill, surrounded by their new collection of shoes. In between swapping holiday stories – she’s not fan of skiing but was looking very relaxed after returning from a break in Long Island – she talked us through the red patent high heeled Bow courts and her personal favourites, the shearling-lined Ena boots that graced the tables. ‘I’ve named them after my goddaughter, but she’s only 9 so I’ll have to wait until she grows into them,’ she said. Emma was staying tight lipped about the theme of her upcoming spring collection, which she’ll be showing in Claridge’s in London this September, but there was a clue in what she was wearing on her feet: suede, fringed ankle boots. Perfect for dancing at the party following the show where she spilled Friendly Fires will playing live. Emma also hinted that she’s expanding this season’s salon-style shows into fuller affairs for 2010. Any why not? Judging by the number of well-heeled ladies who showed up to meet Emma yesterday she’s got quite a fashion fan club.
