Jean Paul Gaultier resigning from Hermès?

Jean Paul Gaultier

Jean Paul Gaultier will reportedly be showing his last collection for French fashion house Hermès in October. The designer – who has been at the label’s helm as creative director since 2003, after taking over from fellow Frenchman Martin Margiela – is said to be resigning from his role after showing his spring 2010 collection for Hermès at Paris Fashion Week. So far, no reason for the resignation has been given and Hermès has declined to comment. Gaultier is credited with the brand’s revival both artistically and financially, following a notable increase in sales this year, and the brand is tied to his own label Jean Paul Gaultier after they invested $23 million dollars for a stake in the line 10 years ago. • Martin Margiela is Belgian, not French. Do your homework. Lazy lazy journalism.
