Saturday nights are no longer our own. Nope. From tomorrow until Christmas, they now belong to Simon, Louis, Dannii, Cheryl and the good, the bad, and the tone deaf amongst the British public. We have got the crisps and the white wine in and are ready to be consumed by the tears and tantrums while waiting to discover the next Leona or Alex. And although we will of course be on fashion watch, we are also looking forward to…
1. Louis and Dannii squabbling – although no tears this time please, it makes for uncomfortable TV. And some of the hopefuls make us feel uncomfortable enough.
2. Simon’s cusses! He really does destroy confidence and dreams that man.
3. Dermot’s charismatic presenting skills… ahem.
4. That the results show is on a Sunday, which means that we get a double X whammy and two rounds of fashion!
So what of the fashion? Because, really, that is what it’s all about. The singing is just so there is some background noise as we study the neckline and cut of Cheryl’s chosen outfit. Last year she chose Matthew Williamson, Preen, BodyAmr and Julien Macdonald, and we’ve already spotted her in Alexander McQueen, Alexander Wang and Louis Vuitton for the auditions, so we’re going to stick our necks on the style line and predict what might be making it on to Cheryl when the live shows start in October. We’re thinking mini and bling, and if we’re right on any of them, we’ll be smug right up until we’re humming the X Factor Number 1!
