Victoria Beckham wants to expand her design empire

It’s clear Victoria Beckham’s latest dress collection has become one of the successes of the season. But instead of resting on her laurels and enjoying her success, Victoria is set on expanding her design empire. (Well this is a woman who’s clocked up 100,500 air miles this year alone, so she doesn’t exactly sit still.) She’s rumoured to have met with a few chosen designers, who can help her create a luxury, ‘classic but contemporary’ handbag line. Her people insist there’s nothing specific confirmed at present but that, as with any developing label, Victoria is looking into a number of different areas. Now we’re thinking that, since she’s got an extensive, £1.5m Hermès collection, bags are the obvious step. But we’d also love to see Victoria working on lingerie, given her Emporio Armani experience (is that why she quit working with the Italian maestro?) and some sky-scraper style heels. Let’s hope those ideas are bubbling away in her South London studio, where she’s just popped in to put the finishing touches to her S/S ’10 dress collection that will be shown at New York Fashion Week.
