Stars celebrate The September Issue

Let’s take a look at who wore what at the premiere of The September Issue in New York last night… After all, when you’re playing at Anna Wintour’s party you’d better dress the part. Anna led the fash-off wearing a Prada resort dress – a sartorial comment on those Devil Wears Prada comparisons that have been drawn from the fly-on-Vogue’s-wall documentary, perchance? And it looks like she had a hand in stage managing the other outfits on display, too. One of her favourite labels, Proenza Schouler, was represented by her daughter Bee Schaffer, who arrived hand in hand with her mother and urged her to put on those trademark sunglasses for the photographers. Sienna Miller, meanwhile, who stars as the magazine’s cover girl in The September Issue, chose to wear a powder blue minidress by Thakoon, one of the designers who features prominently in Anna Wintour’s office in the documentary. But perhaps Anna’s fashion diktat didn’t extend as far as Marc Jacobs. He worked the red carpet in his usual skort paired with Louis Vuitton sequinned brogues, while his fiancé Lorenzo Martone opted for, ahem, braces. (We can’t wait to see those wedding outfits). ‘Yeah we are buddies' he said of La Wintour. 'When I was going through some personal problems she was there for me. She is very maternal and loving to the people she cares about.’

And if the sight of New York’s fashion finest turning up to have a nose about what goes on in the hallowed halls of US Vogue has left you near desperate to see the movie for yourself, here’s a mini consolation: two clips of The September Issue for your afternoon’s perusal.
