The Chanel Culture Club!

18 August 2009

There are many, many, many things to love about Chanel, but 2.55 bags aside, the iconic fashion house's ability to ‘fashion up' popular culture is one of our favourite aspects. First, Karl Lagerfeld lent a hand to the wardrobe of Coco Chanel biopic Coco Before Chanel. Next, he devised a collection of stunning light and fluffy haute couture costumes for the English National Ballet. And now Chanel's creations are hitting the big screen once more in Pedro Almodovar's latest ode to Penélope Cruz's gorgeousness, Broken Embraces. The sultry actress sets our inner green-eyed monster into overdrive with stunning straight-from-the-catwalk skirt suits and embellished gowns. And that's without even mentioning her character's enviable collection of iconic 2.55 quilted bags. It's another sartorial triumph in a summer of fabulous fashion films. Gorgeous.

Broken Embraces is in cinemas from 28 August. Watch the trailer here.
