It's hard to believe we know, but Converse just got a whole lot cooler. First they collaborated with Missoni on a menswear sneaker line for Spring/Summer 2010 (check out the pictures here) and now they're hooking up with reigning king of fashion-forward label Comme des Garçons Rei Kawakubo. The collaboration came from Kawakubo's love of a pair of Chuck Taylor All Stars originally produced in the Fifties for the US Army, and will consist of two high top styles and two low-cut oxford designs retailing for around £205 and £190 respectively. To be known as Comme des Garçons Play for Converse, the line will be sold at the end of August in Comme des Garçons stores in New York, Paris, London, Hong Kong and Seoul. 'Converse has a long history of being on the feet of those who have chosen to disrupt the status quo,' said a spokesperson for the brand. Ain't that the truth. [WWD]
