Simon Fuller buys Storm Model agency

Jourdan Dunn

It seems that when Simon Fuller sets his sights on something, there is no stopping him. His target appears to be the world of fashion, and it looks like he is going to take over all of it, one business at a time. He already has designer Roland Mouret on his 19 management books, and of course Victoria Beckham and her luxury label too, but now that he has bought a majority 51% stake in Storm Model Management, he is set to be the model mogul. Storm represents everyone from Kate Moss to Jourdan Dunn, through Lily Cole, Cindy Crawford and Carla Bruni, and now as part of Fuller's multi-million pound company, 19 is one of the world's largest management firms, covering fashion, music and sport.

Storm was founded 22 years ago by the renowned Sarah Doukas to discover and nurture new modelling talent. ‘Storm has exceeded my expectations and I am incredibly proud of what we have achieved to date,' she said.  ‘We are a London-based business and it has long been my plan to develop and broaden the agency to benefit our incredible talent, and to work directly with my own teams in other influential areas. Working with Simon Fuller and 19 will provide Storm with the opportunity to work competitively, creatively and on an international level'. Fuller agrees: ‘Storm Models is one of those special companies with a unique sense of style and integrity. With 19 moving more into the world of fashion and style, the opportunity to join forces with Storm and its incredible heritage and dynamic approach to the future, was irresistible. Together we can push the boundaries, blur the lines and redefine what a model agency should be in this fast moving world where fashion is playing an increasingly important role in setting and reflecting culture and tastes'. With Lily Cole now acting in movies and Kate Moss launching a career as a TV judge, we can't wait to see what Simon has lined up for the other girls at the agency. Jourdan Dunn as a golfer? Carla Bruni and Victoria Beckham in a girl band?

  • There is no denying that Simon Fuller is a fantastic business man, with each enterprise he touches making him vast amounts of money. However, I hope he can realise that Storm has managed to operate as an extremely well respected business in the past. I don't want to see it being exploited in reality show's - there is enough reality tv as there is!
I hope Sarah Doukas remains an integral part of the business moving forward and doesn't bow down to the 'big boss'!

  • I love it how such carefully crafted, self-congratulatory PR statements nimbly side-step the REAL reason for such business ventures....that everyone's hoping to make wad-loads of cash!!! Forget all the 'incredible heritage','pushing boundaries'blah blah blah etc etc (I'm just amazed she didn't use the word 'synergy'!!!)....Sarah Doukas is going to be one very rich lady after selling 51% of her business!

  • Bananas! First Select's celeb-offspring contingent defect to Next, followed by their booker Sarah Leon. Then Independent Models ditch their New Faces division for celebs. And now this. SLOW DOWN...I CAN'T KEEP UP!
