The Teen Choice Awards are a tough gig. You've got to reach out to your tween fan base but still rock a look worthy of the red carpet. (And, as Kristen Stewart proved last year, just adding Converse to your dress doesn't cut it...). So let's take a look at how the stars out in force in LA last night trod fashion's fine line...
The "comeback" dress
Normally we'd be a little disappointed by a dress that looks exactly like what you wore 10 years ago on the red carpet. But with a sartorial history that includes ripped fishnets and dresses sans knickers, we're just happy to see Britney Spears looking happy and healthy in her mini.
The "Angelina who?" dress
Yes Megan Fox, we get it. You're sick of being compared to one of the world's most beautiful women. So you chose to wear a teeny weeny mini with a metallic sheen that full-length, nude palette Angelina wouldn't be seen dead in. Quite a way to send a shout out to Mr Armani's people, too...
The "second time lucky" dress
Leighton Meester's Louis Vuitton Met Ball ensemble didn't exactly go down brilliantly. But she's trusted her instincts and given it a second go with this monochrome structured Vuitton resort dress. Channelling Blair Waldorf much Leighton? We like.
The "all grown up" dress
Remember last year's Teen Choice Awards where Cameron rocked a polka-dot Michael Kors top with skinny jeans? Well thankfully she's finally realised that attending the Teen Choice Awards doesn't mean you have to look like a teen - though yes, with that figure you could be - and gone all grown up in this this elegant grey sheath dress from Alexander McQueen.
The "no nepotism here please" dress
18-year-old Emma Roberts looks gorgeous in her Monique Lhuillier ensemble with black leather Brian Atwood booties. So gorgeous in fact, that we almost forgot she was Julia Roberts's niece. Almost.
The "if my mum can do it so can I" dress
Her mum strides down the red carpet with aplomb each time (having Ashton on your arm probably helps) and her little sister Lula's just done an internship at US Harper's Bazaar, but don't write Rumer Willis off. She's keeping up in the style stakes in this super chic LBD with beaded detail.
The "butter wouldn't melt" dress
Ah, Hayden. We love this Zac Posen dress. We love that you're all about Saving the World/Dolphins. But can we suggest opting for a colour that's slightly less sugary pink?
