You would have thought Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen had enough money to buy themselves the sort of designer clobber that comes pre-distressed. Not to mention the fact that, as creative directors of their own fashion lines The Row and Elizabeth & James, what they say goes. So it's with some surprise that we learn the stylish twins indulge in a little fashion vandalism of their own sometimes. ‘The amount of beautiful things we've ruined – not having the patience for a tailor and cutting everything ourselves,' reveals Ashley. ‘My sister once took an Alaïa dress of mine and just cut the whole thing, and then she was like, "I cut it too short." Mary-Kate and I don't think about fashion as these clean, beautiful objects. We just kind of wear it and live in it.' Mind you, when you made your first million before you were one you probably don't have quite the same fashion adoration towards an Alaïa as us mere mortals... [Fashionologie]
