Fashion 118: how do I wear my brogues?

04 August 2009

I have a pair of flat brown brogues, which I love, and I've been wearing them with rolled-up chinos. However, I have no idea what else goes with them. Please give me some inspiration. Dj71

If you take a leaf out of Alexa Chung or Agyness Deyn's style bible, there's almost nothing you can't wear with mannish flats. Personally, I think being long, lean and vaguely androgynous helps. This look does nothing for curves: all that femininity perched on top of a boyish flat looks like a style crisis. If your figure fits, accentuate your legs with short A-lines or skinny jeans. And make the most of the boy/girl contrast with girlish prints and frothy fabrics.
