I have a dressy do coming up and plan to wear a black and white shift and hat. After seeing your couture coverage, I want to add a pair of ladylike gloves, but everything I see is either a bit OTT or too goth. Any ideas? S

If the couture trends are anything to go by, winter will be so ladylike, we'll all be in Lucie Clayton by Christmas. From cropped driving gloves - so loved by Karl Lagerfeld and Victoria Beckham - to elegant elbow-length ones, there are loads to choose from. With so many germs flying around, I think it's only a matter of time before the NHS insists we wear them. Wouldn't it be cool if fashion killed swine flu!
