9am news: Naomi Campbell donates her handbag to charity, plus Jason Wu suffers from insomnia

20 July 2009

We always knew Naomi Campbell was a kind and giving sort of person, but she's truly outdone herself this time after donating one of her own Hermès Birkin handbags for charity as part of the house's annual vintage sale. The supermodel will part ways with a pale green alligator leather number to raise funds for The White Ribbon Alliance, with the sale taking place on 10 November. Bless. [WWD]

Ever wondered what André Leon Talley was up to during Paris Couture Week? Turns out the US Vogue Editor at Large decided to up sticks and take a trip to North Carolina along with 200 other guests to munch on ‘Southern ham and baked chicken' at a brunch hosted by Dr. Maya Angelou. What would la Wintour say? [Fashionologie]

Meanwhile, we wonder if Ms Wintour will be showing off fashion's hottest new hairstyle this season. The recent trend for shaving the side of one's head a la Cassie, Rihanna or It Brit Alice Dellal seems set for super-stardom come September, so here's looking at a semi-bouffed front row. We just hope it takes half the time to get ready in the morning. [Refinery 29]

And finally, it seems like the stress of becoming the resident fash-pack darling is taking its toll of US based designer Jason Wu. In an interview over the weekend, Wu revealed, ‘Sometimes it's so hard to fall asleep I take a pill. My dreams can be a bit weird.' Yikes. [Sunday Times]
