First Look: Jonathan Kelsey’s new fashion film

Fashion and film seem to be walking hand in hand at the moment, and this week is proving to be no exception with the online screening of a new short film inspired by shoe designer Jonathan Kelsey and his A/W ’09 collection, launching tomorrow. A dark and seductive tale of one woman pursuing her next fix, writer Gregory De Roeck and director Sara Dunlop came together to create the concept for short film High after a long-term admiration of Kelsey's designs: ‘His customers are strong, sexy women with a distinct sense of style. They are feminine, but not in an overt, girly way. I wanted to find innovative ways to translate this into film,' said Dunlop. And what does Kelsey think? 'Most fashion shorts I've seen tend to look great, but can feel like stretched-out adverts. We wanted something with depth, and a genuine narrative... the new winter collection [is] dark, loaded with hard edges and rock chick attitude. We wanted the film to reflect this, while pushing the envelope within the genre.' We've got shivers already.

The full film will launch on http://www.showstudio.com/ at 6pm on Wednesday the 15th July 2009.
