Vivienne Westwood's fashion tips

13 July 2009

Trust Dame Vivienne Westwood to come up with some sound advice for all us recessionistas out there. Her self-proclaimed ‘war' against climate change has produced a catwalk show named '+5˚' to represent the five degree shift in global temperature (as modelled by Pamela Anderson, natch), several Active Resistance campaigns and a series of manifestos. But with all her attempts to save the planet from global warming, there are a few tips and tricks that we should keep up our fashion sleeves too. 'Don't spend money, just take what you can find,' she explained to Jonathan Ross on his Friday night show on BBC1. 'Take your old things and keep on wearing them. If you do buy (fashion) then choose it really well, wear it for a long time, until it sort of drops off your back.' The Grande Dame of fashion even went so far as to suggest that a bit of wear and tear makes your clothes look even better. But of course, if you do buy clothes, choose carefully – choose Westwood!
