Givenchy's Riccardo Tisci has been feeling the music recently. First it was Madonna, who he dressed up in big shoulders in typical Givenchy drama on her Sweet n Sticky tour, and now he is dressing Antony Hegarty from Antony and the Johnsons. As Antony returned to touring, opening with a gig in Paris over the weekend, he needed an outfit that was as big as his voice and stage presence. Riccardo, of course, delivered. Inspired by Antony's cat, he created an incredible ‘cat jacket', constructed from stacked beige felt panels and crystal beads, worn with a long dress in washed beige silk satin, matching wide trousers, jersey T-shirt and gold glitter shoes. ‘For me he is a true artist,' explained Riccardo Tisci. ‘A mixture of Klaus Nomi and Edith Piaf... an iconic voice of the 21st century.' The outfit perfectly reflects the sensitivity and control of Antony's music, with a touch of the off-the-wall. ‘Working with Riccardo and his team at Givenchy has been such a wonderful experience,' Antony said as he returned the compliment. ‘They have all been so warm and generous during the collaboration. A big theme in my work recently has been my relationship with the natural world, and I have been feeling a bit feral recently!'
