Fashion isn't one of Agy's favourite things

09 July 2009

Apparently Agyness Deyn doesn't 'do' fashion. That's not what you'd think if you looked at her fashion CV – countless runways shows, the face of a trillion campaigns, her personal style spawning a generation of bleach blonde nouveaux punks and, of course, her fashwan qualifications are further enhanced by the company she keeps. She's bezzies with Henry Holland (like, how could you not know that?), über photographer Steven Meisel thinks ‘she's a fun person to spend your day with' and of course being pals with Alexa Chung and co. doesn't harm a person's street cred. So what exactly does the Lancashire lass mean when she says, 'You know, even though I'm in fashion, I don't, like, do fashion'? Well, deciding to skip a fashion week and not walk the runway, not doing the kissy-kissy-lovey-lovey usual fashion speak and replacing most words with the word ‘like', opting for kooky vintage pieces rather than being head-to-toe in designer garb and doing her own goofy thing wherever and whenever she fancies, sets her apart from other cogs whirling in the big fashion machine. 'Fashion isn't me, even though I work in it. It's just materialistic stuff. I just want to do whatever makes me happy.' Which is, she says, laughing: 'Laughing is, like, my favourite thing to do.' Our Agy's just a loveable down-to-earth gal, and you know what? We're glad she doesn't 'do' fashion! [New York Post]
