My Fashionable Week: Louise Gray

03 July 2009

British designer Louise Gray is one of our favourites on the fashion circuit. She's not scared of embellishment and colour and creative beyond anyone else on the catwalk, constantly surprising us. Oh and when you put on one of her dresses you feel totally unique and special. So not surprising that she's received New Gen sponsorship from Topshop to present at London Fashion Week this September. We took 5 to hear all about her fashionable week...

Best and worst moments of the week?
To be honest I'm still overwhelmed by getting New Gen from the BFC! So delighted to have an on-schedule presentation - has to be the best moment of the month. Worst moment was then (in all the excitement) forgetting to collect my dry cleaning - summer outfits were locked up, then I locked myself out - I always do that when I get stressed or super busy, it's either my house or studio.... very irritating!

Is there anything like an average day for you, and if so what does it look like?
I walk to my studio - then go through tasks with my assistants. This week I have to meet my set-designer to decide what we are going to do for LFW SS10 - eeek! Then a private client fitting, a meeting with fabric developers for next season, and then if I am still awake (!) meet some friends at night for dinner or drinks.

What's the most unexpected thing you did this week?
Went to Paris to visit my boyfriend Christopher on a whim - love the Eurostar!

How do you wind down at the end of the day?
Reading autobiographies - it's Bob Dylan part one at the moment

Guiltiest pleasure of the week?
Lots of blue champagne cocktails at the re-launch of ponystep.com

Last three things you bought?
Coca Cola can necklace and 2 1980s B-side comics

What are you lusting over this week?
Womens Church's shoes

What newspapers/magazines/websites do you look at each week?
Dazed digital, celebgossip.com, lastnightstexts.com, ponystep.com, stylebubble

Favourite outfit you wore this week?
A denim mirror bustier from my current season with a Moschino vintage Lichtenstein pop art print dress for Harper's Bazaar shoot

What's your favourite day of the week and why?
I like Wednesday - it's the halfway point - and Friday. Fridays are the weekend right?

What's your perfect day ever?
Currently dreaming of being in New York. Walking round, browsing, shopping and eating cheeseburgers!

Soundtrack of the week?
Anything Lily Allen

Best restaurant/party/bar you hung out in?
Hot boy dancing spot at Dalston superstore

TV programme you were obsessed with?
Come Dine With Me - love it!

What are you most looking forward to next week?
Next week its Nicholas Kirkwood's birthday party which is really exciting - he is such a good friend. We actually collaborated this season on a pair of super amazing platforms. Oh and I am making Beth Ditto a dress!

Blackberry or iPhone and how addicted are you?
Not at all, although I'm getting a Blackberry delivered, so not sure how ready I am for that!
