The world is still reeling over the death of Michael Jackson. But with the funeral due to go ahead next Tuesday, it's those who were rehearsing with the star for his final This Is It tour who are most affected. Costume designer Dennis Tompkins - who worked with Michael Bush on the King of Pop's wardrobe for the show - was responsible for bringing Jackson's iconic style into the Noughties: ‘Working with Michael for 25 years we had never seen his creativity at this level,' says Bush of his energy during tour rehearsals. ‘It was like where is this coming from? I get goose bumps thinking about what this visual was going to look like.' And it sounds like Bush and Tompkins had a few tricks up their sleeves: fibre-optic lights sewn onto his red leather Thriller jacket for a surprise light show timed to the music, signature crystal glove and socks which caught the light, a "regimented, military" look outfit for the star's rendition of I Just Can't Stop Loving You, jewelled belts and accessories, and a custom made suit for Billie Jean with 7.5 lbs. of Swarovski crystals and 60 lights. It's a shame we never got to see it. [Style News]
