Graeme Black: My Fashionable Week

Graeme Black

Another Friday, another top fashion insider telling Grazia Daily all about the past seven days in their glamourous world. And who better to catch up with this week than Graeme Black, the newly crowned Scottish Designer of the Year. Find out what the worst thing was about winning his award, why he's training with the military and who has been on his iPod. Oh, and don't forget to check back next Friday to see who'll be revealing all...

Best and worst moments of the week?

Receiving "Scottish Designer of the Year" at Stirling Castle, with all my friends around me!! It was a very unique special moment, the sunset was incredible as we arrived - the evening was perfect!

My worst moment was getting the bill for all the clothes I bought for the occasion - well it WAS a special event!!!

Is there anything like an average day for you, and if so what does it look like?

Mmmmmm, an average day? Well, usually I get up around 7am and go to Battersea Park with my dog! I've been trying to get fit for summer so have signed up for British Military Fitness... exhausting but invigorating, especially on a sunny morning!

I usually get to the office and have an email/PR catch-up. I like to deal with all the problems/telephone calls before settling in to my day. This week was great because I'm designing the collection for S/S 2010, so it's fabrics, colours, draping and sketching. I really enjoy this process and get lost in my thoughts. Usually I listen to the same music over and over again as it helps me concentrate.

Lunch is quick but dinner is nearly always out. "Scotts" was delicious this week! I always read before going to sleep at night (midnight/1 am lights out).

What's the most unexpected thing you did this week?

Getting up on stage and making an acceptance speech! Scary...

How do you wind down at the end of the day?

A walk in the park with Bully, my dog. We mainly stroll along the Thames at Battersea Park. It's very relaxing.

Guiltiest pleasure of the week?

Spending lots of money on new clothes. I haven't done it in AGES... It was fabulous! (see below!)

Last three things you bought?

A Lanvin Tuxedo, a pair of Bottega shoes, a Dolce silk evening jacket.

What are you lusting over this week?

A new Apple computer - I want a lighter, slimmer version that I can carry easily.

What newspapers/magazines/websites do you look at each week?

Time, Herald Tribune, Grazia, Grazia Daily and Style.com

Favourite outfit you wore this week?

It has to be Sunday night's: my new Dolce navy jacket teamed with a Bottega white and navy gingham cotton shirt, Lanvin trousers and Hermes handkerchief!!! (Oh yes, and grey Bottega shoes). I was channeling chic, Aix-en-Provence grey/blue nauticals.

What's your favourite day of the week and why?

Thursday. I always feel very positive and full of energy. Perhaps because I know the weekend is coming!

What's your perfect day ever?

Sailing on a boat with my partner and my dog enjoying the sun. Wonderful!!

Soundtrack of the week?

A mixture of mainly female vocals such as Amy Winehouse, Joss Stone and Lady GaGa

Best restaurant/party/bar you hung out in?

The Scottish Fashion Awards after-party at Stirling Castle. The crowd was stylish and fun, the evening was warm and the music was fantastic!

TV programme you were obsessed with?

Sorry, I don't really watch TV - I caught bits of "BBC Breakfast".

What are you most looking forward to next week?

Going for a long weekend in St Tropez with my best friends. We've been planning to get together for ages.

Blackberry or iPhone and how addicted are you?

Sadly, I only own a simple cell-phone!

PS: In case you missed it Mulberry's Emma Hill and shoe guru Nicholas Kirkwood also spilled about their week in fashion.
