Guess who Patricia Field wants to style now?

If you've already bagged yourself a copy of this week's Grazia, you'll probably have seen (and squealed!) at the news that legendary stylist Patricia Field may be preparing to quit the Sex and The City sequel in a bizarre row with Sarah Jessica Parker over the credit crunch. Patricia is furious at SJP's plans to transform Carrie Bradshaw from fashionista to recessionista. 'I don't use the recession as a reference for my creativity,' she told us exclusively. But that's not all folks. In our phone interview with the style maven - to mark the launch of Confessions of A Shopaholic, which she also styles, on DVD and Blu Ray on the 29th June - she revealed that she had a few ideas for Susan Boyle up that sartorial sleeve of hers. ‘I would probably make her a glamorous opera diva',  Patricia said. ‘Roll on the make up. Put her in a corset, put her in a diva gown - give her a hot wig and let her go and sing.' Now there's a makeover we'd pay good money to see!

  • Sorry but her idea for SuBo stinks! A corset? NOOOO! And I didn't get all the fuss about SATC. So what if Carrie goes recessionista? Surely an opportunity to express some creativity in the styling I would've thought...

  • God, totally agree. Corset, wig? Is this the most famous stylist in the world talking? I say ignore her and get Trinny & Suzannah on the case. Their suggestions couldn't be anymore hideous.
Also correct me if I'm wrong, but in the early series of S&TC, wasn't Carries fashion all about thrift shop finds? The fur coat, the $30.00 dress to wear with the expensive shoes? Even the infamous name necklace was a cheapo find. If she did it once, couldn't she do it again. Good on SJP for actually wanting the film to reflect real life.

  • Agree with above. any stylist worth their salt should be able to style clothes, surely its not about how much they cost but how you put them together?

  • I think the point is that SATC clearly has the money and the standing to style expensive, aspirational fashion - it would be meaningless to style Carrie 'realistically' because the show is glamourous and escapist. I wouldn't mind the odd piece but the fashion is definitely one of the main reasons I watch SATC and other Field-styled projects.
