Grazia test out the halfway heels

23 June 2009

If you pick up today's Grazia (which no doubt you will!) then you'll soon see that the fashion team's latest obsession is with ‘halfway heels'. Now, don't assume that these are only halfway to fabulous (they're 100% fantastic) it's just that they aren't the fierce Beyoncé-worthy crazy platforms we've all been trying to walk in (and occasionally failing to do so) for the last few seasons. The ‘halfways' are sexy heels you can wear day in, day out and running for a bus or shimmying around the office, without needing two minders and a taxi to grab a coffee from across the road. But don't be alarmed, there's not even the tiniest whiff of frumpy librarian in the air. To make sure that we'd found just the right ones for you, it's only fair we try them out for ourselves! That's not to say that we'll be totally ditching our super shoes, but for now, these are just perfect...

- Lily Russo, Grazia's Fashion Assistant, tries out Kurt Geiger's Fashionista jewelled peeptoes and Jerome C Rousseau's glam gold heels.

"Gold is my favourite colour for summer accessories, and it doesn't get much better than these metallic sandals. Plus, after having tried and tested them running around the busy Grazia office, they're so comfy I can even jump those stairs! "
£340, Jerome C Rousseau, http://www.net-a-porter.com/

"The thick straps and sturdy metal heel make for the perfect night to day shoe, and anything with this much embellishment can make up for the inches you lose in heel height."
£99 Kurt Geiger Fashionistas, http://www.kurtgeiger.com/

- Katie Jackson, GraziaDaily's Fashion Assistant, went for a spin in New Look's white ruffles and Belle & Mimi's cage sandals.

"Love the bright hue of these red multi-strap sandals (made a lot easier to wear than they look by the zip down the front!) And even though I'd normally go for a much higher heel, the colour means that you can still get that wow factor without the pain!" £45, Belle & Mimi, Barratts, http://www.barratts.co.uk/

"New Look's fast becoming a one stop shop for a sure-fire shoe fix, and the crisp white ruffle details on these ‘halfways' make them super elegant for summer."
£22, New Look 0500 454 094

- Hannah Almassi, Grazia's Fashion News Assistant, gave M&S's nude heels and Lanvin's super bright gladiators a whirl.

"M&S stock a million and one comfy shoes - but these are a seriously glam pair! Great nude colour palette for summer and really easy to keep on with the cross over straps." £39.50 M&S Autograph, 0845 302 1234

"Mmm, it doesn't get better than Lanvin. Flat, mega high, halfway, I wouldn't really mind owning any of them. But these bright gladiators are super easy to walk around in and the colour is definitely jealousy inducing!" £500, Lanvin at Browns
