No one could ever accuse designer Mary Quant of letting fun times pass her by – one look at her Mod-ish collections from the Swinging Sixties tells you that. Micro miniskirts, bright colour-blocking and over-the-knee socks were all her doing (and is it just us, or do they feel quite du jour right now too?). And at 75, the fun will certainly not be stopping. She's still working away with her cosmetics company ‘Mary Quant Cosmetics' and penning her second autobiography, but she noticed one particular aspect of the fashion industry in the current climate has changed for the worse – '[What's] most annoying: that other people take things so seriously...' she explains. 'I hate the effect the recession's having because I like everything to be bouncing.' Well, luckily for any sour-faced fashionistas out there, Mary's hoping that her zingy outlook will naturally cheer them up! We think that sounds like an invite round to her place for tea and pick-me-up biscuits, non?
