My Fashionable Week: Nicholas Kirkwood

19 June 2009

Welcome back to our Friday fashion feature where, this week, we asked shoe designer Nicholas Kirkwood to dish the dirt on the past seven days. Here he tells us about eating ice cream in bed, the last three things he bought and what he's listening too right now. Don't forget to check back next Friday to see who'll be revealing all...

Is there anything like an average day for you and if so, what does it look like?
'An average day starts with a large cup of tea for breakfast, and then I walk to work. Luckily I live five minutes from my studio, and when I'm there the first half of the day is taken up going through emails and general production and sales things. Some time after lunch I normally start working the following season, looking through samples cards, researching ideas for prints and interesting techniques that I can incorporate in some way. I find I get into a better head space for designing after the others in the studio have gone home, I then get time for myself to put on some loud music and sketch away. This normally goes on till late unless there is something fun going on in town and I feel I need a break.'
