Stella McCartney

Now, we don't normally get excited about kids' clothes. Sure they're sweet but, quite frankly, we'd rather be updating our wardrobes than making the kids around us look oh-so chic. But something tells us that's about to change with this morning's news of a very fashionable designer/high-street childrenswear collaboration. Stella McCartney is teaming up with GapKids and babyGap to launch a new kidswear range, which will hit stores in November. ‘For years now I've wanted to create a collection for kids – it's something I've often been asked about,' Stella spilled this morning. ‘I believe that this one-off collaboration will be a great way for customers to be able to participate in the Stella McCartney brand. I believe that kids' clothing should be more accessibly priced, which is particularly important given the current climate.' No word yet on how big and what details we'll see in the range, but given how cute the British designer's three kids are and the quality of Gap, we're already expecting great things. ‘I'm looking forward to offering our GapKids and babyGap customers her unique interpretation of Gap's casual American aesthetic,' says Marka Hansen, President of Gap brand. ‘Her experience as a parent and a designer are sure to delight both kids and parents alike.' Too true. Because not only are we getting a little too used to grown-up high street/designer collaborations but, in these baby-boom recessionary times, it seems like a sensible business decision too...
