Emma Watson new face of Burberry

When Emma Watson made her high fashion party debut, at the Burberry hosted exhibition of Vanity Fair portraits at the National Portrait Gallery last year, it seemed to mark the start of a mutual fashion crush between the actress and the famous British brand. And today Burberry has finally unveiled the culmination of that relationship: a moody Emma modelling the A/W 2009-2010 collection in their new advertising campaign. ‘I wanted the images to represent both the rich history and the modernity of the Burberry brand, while at the same time reflecting a quiet beauty, timelessness and strength that is particularly significant today,' said Burberry creative director Christopher Bailey. 'Having known and admired the lovely Emma Watson for quite some time, she was the obvious choice for this campaign, who, like the images she fronts, has a classic beauty, a great character and a modern edge. Emma's charm, intellect and brilliant sense of fun made the whole shoot feel like a picnic on the Thames.' Shot by Mario Testino on a London rooftop overlooking the Houses of Parliament, Emma is, unusually for Burberry, the only girl posing with four Burberry suited boys. Not that she needs anyone else: with those smoky eyes and the way she's belted that trench, Emma totally holds the frame. The adverts launch in press from August, when Burberry will also post a digital campaign featuring behind the scenes footage from the shoot on their website. And something tells us we've got our first confirmed name on the front row of the Burberry Prorsum show at next season's London Fashion Week, too....
