Beyoncé Knowles: from £14,000 shopping sprees to on-stage diva

27 May 2009

God, that Beyonce's got stamina. On Monday night she partied until 5am at some of London's hottest clubs with little sis and Jay-Z. Yesterday – no signs of a hangover – she headed to Harvey Nics to, what else, shop. Then, after splashing out on Alexander McQueen crystal print dresses, Cherry Chau hair accessories, sparkling Louboutins and a BR Republic ring worth a whopping £1,795, she did what she's actually in London to do and took to the stage at London's 02 Arena. And like dedicated Sasha Fierce fans that we are, we were front row and centre thanks to the lovely people over at The Earring Boutique. Well, we had to see those Thierry Mugler costumers up close. Neither the 58-piece wardrobe nor Beyoncé herself disappointed. (Though we did leave wondering how we can diet to fit into a be-peplumed spandex gold leotard and look as good as the leading lady!). There were some classic stage outfits: billowing white diaphanous capes and robotic-style corsets under gold lamé trains. Oh and the tunes weren't bad either: she opened with party anthem Crazy In Love after standing silhouetted against a white light, and treated us to a run of show-stoppers before hit song Radio, where a home video of her aged five was shown on the screen to a huge cheer. And, as you'd expect from Sasha Fierce, there was some diva-like behavior, too. Especially when she asked the 20,000 strong crowd to chant her name before launching into a Destiny's Child medley with Say My Name. Still, we'll forgive her this time we reckon. Any girl who rocks a Balmain jacket like that can't be in our bad books for long...
