London Fashion Week is shaping up very nicely this season. Plans are afoot to make the new home at Somerset House spectacular – when we went down a couple of weeks ago the talk was of a double marquee taking up the courtyard! – and now Burberry has announced it is bringing its Spring 2010 Prorsum collection to London! The show, which usually takes place in Milan, will close London Fashion Week on Tuesday 22 September and will be followed by a special event at it's new London headquarters. (We're hoping it's on the roof, with its amazing views of London!). ‘London is our home – it's the heart of this global luxury brand and the centre of all our creativity,' explains Creative Director, Christopher Bailey. ‘We are so excited to be showing during London Fashion Week and particularly to be part of its historic 25th anniversary. We are incredibly proud of our Britishness and this is really a wonderful opportunity to celebrate that in our home city.' You can say that again. It's evidence that after being squeezed by the schedule last season, London Fashion Week is absolutely back on the fashion month map in a major way. And according to the British Fashion Council, 'more names returning to the London Catwalks are expected shortly, including a key British designer which will be announced early next week.' Oh, er. Who could it be? You'll hear it here first.
