Amy Winehouse doing fashion line for PPQ

Amy Molyneaux Amy Winehouse

Karl Lagerfeld's called her his muse - sending Chanel models down the catwalk with Amy Winehouse-style beehives. Jonathan Kelsey designed the ‘Amy' shoe in her honour. She's sung for the fashion crowd at a Fendi party in Paris Fashion Week and practically made the Preen Power dress famous when she rocked it on the red carpet at the Brits. But since Amy Winehouse spiralled into a vicious cycle of drugs and drink, her style status has waned somewhat. Until now. We've just discovered the singer is teaming up with PPQ to create her own fashion range. ‘There have been talks with Amy and we are now in the first stages of the project,' Amy Molyneaux, one half of PPQ design duo, told us at the Mulberry Romance party. ‘The range will be all about high-end statement pieces, inspired by Amy's style. For example maybe an amazing piece of jewellery like a bracelet or a dress. It's going to be distributed online, we are going to be providing all materials and doing the design, but Amy will definitely be involved in the creative process. It will be very different to Peaches' line for PPQ as that was more of a diffusion line - this will be a homage to Amy's look.' Makes sense considering it's the label of choice for the young London music/scenester crowd, and hopefully this could be a turning point for Amy - first the fashion, then the music...

  • I think we probably would all agree that at one time (as in your photo above), Amy was quirky and chic and beautiful. Now, however, she looks really unwell and dishevelled. How will she manage to get it together to design a fashion range in the state she's in??? Perhaps a good idea, though, as she might finally get some clothes that are clean and fit properly and return her to her rightful diva status.

  • What, seriously? Count me out of that one. At her best Amy looks like she's crawled out of dustbin! PPQ you're OYH (off your head.. tee hee)

  • Is it me or does Amy Molyneaux look like Winehouse's doppelganger (not the evil one, obviously)?

  • Seriously PPQ are droping rapid from my radar, Peaches hidious range was bad enough but Amy! Dont get me wrong, as mentioned above, she once was stylish and no one can argue a very talented artist. But style icon, not for me. I dont want to judge but from what Ive seen she need medical help before any other pressures such as this. I wont be buying.

  • But maybe this is something Amy needs. The girl has obviously lost it and doesn't seem to be getting much better hanging around in St Lucia doing absolutely nothing. Too much time on your hands isn't great when you have addictions. Maybe a project would get her focusing and back on track?

  • Will that be a line of string vests, bras and tiny denim shorts then?

  • I read the interview from Amy Winehouse in the mag this week- not being a Winehouse fan, (I believe in taking responsibility for your actions and carrying on her career she is no doubt reinforcing that drugs and drink are 'cool' to impressionable young people and she needs to stop what she is doing and come back at it clean) it didn't put her in a good light: she appeared to be immature, spoilt and very addicted. I would imagine, some poor designer from somewhere would design all the stuff, and show it to Amy who would give it the thumbs up or thumbs down. That would then lead them to signing her name on the labels and saying she designed them.
Not something I will be buying anyway.

  • I disagree. I think looking at Amy is one of the best anti-drugs messages out there. She is a mess both physically and mentally. She hasn't released a record for months and by god she looks terrible.
Drugs have never seemed less tempting.
