Yesterday the British Fashion Council appointed leading fashion journalist Sarah Mower as its first Ambassador for Emerging Talent. Her first job in the new role was to oversee the New Generation panel committee and identify the next wave of talent to hit London Fashion Week. Of course Sarah is perfectly place to do this job. In addition to being a contributing editor to American Vogue she is also the chief fashion show critic on, and the journalist who the designers trust to give the right advice and a dose of tough love. So we wanted to find out who is next on Sarah's radar. ‘There is a great new wave of accessories designers coming through,' she told us. ‘I'm happy about the fact we have two young shoe designers in Michael Lewis [ex Louis Vuitton] and Atalanta Weller, who are setting up their own labels in London after gaining much experience in the industry. They will make a great addition to London Fashion Week.' In addition to designers setting up their new businesses, Sarah also has her eye on this year's crop of graduating designers. ‘I'm expecting great things from David Fraser and Rachel Barratt, two Scots at the Royal College of Art,' she says. As for the winners of the much coveted New generation prize? You'll have to wait until mid-June for that big reveal...
