Now we know we shouldn't gloat but we do just love being proven right! In the Grazia car after the Marios Schwab S/S ‘09 show way back last September the discussion was all along the lines of, ‘If that's wasn't an application for the (recently vacated) Halston creative director job, I don't know what is!' The collection - in stores now - was slinky jersey columns, soft-as-butter draped suede dresses, blouson jackets and skinny slouchy trousers a gogo. Or, in other words, the cornerpieces of any Halston collection, all sprinkled with a liberal dose of Marios magic to give them that ultra-modern edge he is known for. Fast forward eight months and a host of rumours Olivier Theyskens was to head up the design house to today's announcement that Marios Schwab has been named as the new creative director of Halston. It seems the powers at Halston had the same thoughts as the Grazia girls about the S/S collection. CEO Bonnie Takhar said of the show, ‘Marios used a lot of jersey in a very modern way. The silhouettes were also very fluid, and we thought they had a very modern Halston interpretation.' What can we say except - we told you so!
