Roisin Murphy's fashion discovery

Roisin Murphy has been known to make a fashion statement or two. From wearing full Gareth Pugh looks in her videos, Giles, Vivienne Westwood and Jonathan Saunders on stage, modelling for Alexander Vauthier at his couture show in Paris, to sitting front row at almost every New York, London, Milan and Paris show in big hats and even bigger shoulders. In fact, we're beginning to associate Roisin with fashion rather than music.

But it looks like it's not just the big hitters Roisin is turning towards for the attention-grabbing headlines. Recently Roisin has been spotting collections from young designers and surprising them with calls to request items. ‘She got in touch totally out of the blue,' explains recent St Martins MA graduate, Oden Wilson, whose designs Roisin wore on stage at the Life Ball in Vienna this weekend. ‘She came in a week ago to look at the collection and we did a mini fitting. She really knows how to wear clothes and was quite experimental with the clothes.' The performer picked out a voluminous sweeping coat, that was the finale of the origami-inspired collection, and a jacket that she wore back to front as a dress. ‘She is exactly the type of person I wanted to dress, it was an "in my dreams" scenario.'
