Lily Allen's latest fashion plans

Karl Lagerfeld shot Lily Allen as the new face of Chanel accessories last week in London, and we've just heard how it went straight from the horse's mouth. ‘I  am quite unnatural in front of the camera, especially when you are working with fashion photographers just because the nature of the people they are used to working with is very different from me,' Lily has said of a recent shoot, which we're thinking must be Chanel's. ‘So I always feel a little self-conscious, because I am 5ft 2 and size 12. It can be a little bit intimidating, but fun on some levels.' Well, we don't think Lily needs to worry at all. She's had enough practice dangling 2.55 bags off her shoulder on nights out in London and the Chanel front row, after all. And we've heard that Lily's modelling is in fact going so well she's been snapped up by an agency to represent her officially. As if that's not enough to keep little Lils busy, the singer has just talked of plans to launch her own accessories range, too. She's hoping to unveil a collection of sparkly accessories based on the pieces she already loves wearing by the back end of this year. [Digital Spy]

  • Im undecided on whether or not Lily will be good as the new face of Chanel... on one side she's fun, young and quirky and always seems to be sporting a Chanel bag... but then again she could make the label appear less classy, as she can be quite gobby at times. However I do prefer her look now to the trainers and gold hoops thing she had going on not so long ago...

  • I think Lily is gorgeous and totally love the fact she's not the normal model dimensions. She should have more confidence in herself!

  • I really want to see the shots, Im intrigued as to how they will be styled!

  • Lily Allen does photograph beautifully so I'm sure she will look absolutley stunning in the photos.
But I'm with MaiYuet with regards to Lily landing this contract. I'm not entirley convinced that its a good thing. It certaintly does not inspire me to buy Chanel just because she's in the ads. I don't really aspire to be like Lily Allen at all to be honest. Kudos for her to get where she is and I like the fact that she's a bit different and I like her music its just that she's a bit well ordinary. (But then again maybe that's the appeal for many.)
On the other hand the adverts with Keira Knightley and Audrey Tatou took my breath away as they were just so stunning in them.
    Snobbery? Maybe.

  • Lily looks the best she ever has. There's something about Lily that draws my eye to her on both page and screen. I think she can totally be the face of Chanel. She has the added bonus of having a great personality, something that alot of campaigns lack.

  • Well I guess it s Chanel's clever(?) marketing move to attract a younger clientelle. Lily is fresh, successful, talented and young. She appeals to girls in late teens up to mid twenties and that s where Chanel is aiming at. Will the fashion house succeed? Only time will show. Someone s definitely enjoying the attention and that s Lily herself. And the money she was given too. Go girl! What s next? Gerry Weber? Aquascutum? Only kidding.

  • It can go one way or the other- it can shake up a traditional fashion house or backfire because, apart from a tiny minority, the age demographic that they are supposedly targeting will not realistically be able to afford Chanel clothes, bags and accessories.
Methinks it's down to indirectly promoting Chanel fragrances and makeup. Realistically, that's what the majority can at least afford and is a big part of Chanel's bread & butter.

  • This has already been discussed previously, on another page. This idea is not a good move for Chanel, and the Chanel fashion house which is luxury, classic, elegant, sophisticated and refined is everything which Lily Allen is not!

  • Couldn't put it better myself Lanvin!
