Tilda Swinton starts Cannes red-carpet catwalk!

tilda swinton

And we're off! As one of the hottest events of the year kicks off over the other side of the channel, we're hedging our bets already as to who wins best red-carpet outfit of Cannes. But given that a certain Tilda Swinton has already wowed with this mulberry-hued Haider Ackerman creation, our money's on the redhead to take the crown. Plus, Haider's a Colombian designer so famous for his jersey pieces he's already being touted as the new Rick Owens. Having said that, news has reached our ears that model Laetitia Casta will be wearing custom-made Givenchy for the premiere of Tsai Ming-liang's film Face; Eva Herzigova has packed a Balmain dress, and Milla Jovovich not only has some Alexander Wang, Thakoon and Rodarte stashed in her suitcase, but is also guaranteed to be seriously ‘hooked up' by Miuccia Prada. Phew, let the dress-off begin!

  • You got to love the Swinton!
She is totally individual, totally mad and totally wonderful.

  • For once she looks sleek, sophisticated and thoughtfully put together, rather than going down her usual Bjork route of wearing a random swan just for the sake of being different and 'out there'.

  • This kind of rich claret colour is exactly the right shade of red for the carpet! No clash there...(Patsy Kensit, please note!) Beautiful drape effect and effortless looking. 10/10

  • Too gorgeous. It's great to think that she's a Brit and she has oodles of style and individuality. Not some boring Hollywood safe-frock clone!

  • Bow down to the Swinton, she is totally fabulous here.
I love her mad cap ways and the way she is totally individual. We need more people like her and less of Jordan & even (dare I say it) Victoria Beckham clones.
