It wouldn't be the biggest fashion event of the year without a little on-running drama. But for once The Met Ball fallout is not about the red carpet faux pas (well unless you count the furore over Madonna's Louis Vuitton dress and bunny ears which is finally beginning to die down) – it's all about the alleged attack on the Proenza Schouler designer, Jack McCollough, by Kiefer Sutherland at a late-night after-party. In case you've missed the details: in a move straight out of 24, Kiefer is said to have headbutted the designer, supposedly after Jack bumped into Brooke Shields on his way to the bar to get a drink. The New York designer appeared in public for the first time yesterday, with a scar across his nose prominently visible, as his spokesman insisted the incident was unprovoked. 'Anyone who knows Jack McCollough knows that he would not hurt a fly,' they said. 'All we can say at this point is that the matter is in the hands of the authorities.' It is indeed. Kiefer Sutherland is reportedly looking at a minor assault charge if guilty but may face a jail sentence if LA authorities decide he's violated the terms of his five-year probation period for a driving under the influence offence.
