Wow! Surely the only thing better than being on Marc Jacobs' table at this year's Met Ball is salivating over the pictures on the first day back to work after a bank holiday. The fashion equivalent of the Oscars, New York's Met Ball brings out all the A-list and never more so than this year, when the theme was Models as Muses, co-hosted by Marc Jacobs, Kate Moss and Justin Timberlake. So let's analyse the fashion. Lace, trains, miniskirts, ‘90s goth, full-on Hollywood glamour - pretty much every trend you could think of was represented. Some did it brilliantly. Victoria Beckham clearly listened to her date for the night Marc Jacobs and dared to go short - controversial at a ball like this - while Ashley Olsen looked grown up and seriously sexy in a backless white dress by own line The Row. Oh and how could we forget, Kate Moss. In true supermodel style she wowed in one-shoulder custom-made Marc Jacobs number with a turban by Stephen Jones and accessorised with a tan straight off a weekend sunbathing on Sir Philip Green's yacht. Meanwhile, supermodels Agyness Deyn and Twiggy walked down the red carpet hand in hand both wearing Burberry. But if the stars looked civilised on the red carpet, it was a different story towards the end of the night.
After chomping down on waffle-cut chips with the entrée, Daisy Lowe and Marc Jacobs hit the dance floor, breaking some moves down to Gold Digger. Michael Kors and Josh Hartnett were found sneaking into the ladies bathroom (tut, tut, boys...), Mary-Kate and Ashley were caught smoking in there and Bee Schaffer needed help manoeuvring the train of her Nina Ricci gown. Special note to the model with the best stamina too: late into the wee hours Chanel Iman hit the after-party...
