As if you didn't know already, Selfridges turns the big 100 this year. And we couldn't let you leave your desks without giving you a sneaky preview of all the festivities in store. Today marks the first of the Big Yellow Festival Fridays, with the likes of Patrick Wolf, Appaloosa, Frank Musik and VV Brown billed to perform throughout May, and Giles Deacon and Henry Holland will play DJ this weekend as models strut their stuff down a custom made catwalk. Last night we went down to Selfridges for champagne and birthday cake to celebrate the launch of the centenary celebrations, and – ahem – couldn't keep our eyes off the geek chic waiters in the '50s-style white shorts, yellow T-shirts and nerdy black glasses. But more importantly, we learnt that the store will become home to the largest shoe department in Europe once the refurbishment is complete, and had huge amounts of fun revisiting our childhood by colouring in the centenary cards. Happy Birthday Selfridges!
