Morning round-up: SJP having twin girls through surrogate, plus Alexa gets a new job...

29 April 2009

Congratulations to Sarah Jessica Parker and her husband Matthew Broderick, who have just announced they are expecting twin baby girls via a surrogate. (We can't help but also think this is a clever way to have kids and still be able to fit into a Narciso Rodriguez dress and Louboutin heels.) [People]

Finally! Alexa Chung's in New York and her new job is confirmed. She'll host a weekly 'hour-long programme that mixes celebrity talk, music, and interaction with viewers by computer' on MTV starting 15 June. We're predicting her first guests will be fellow NY Brits, Daisy and Agyness... [Refinery29]

Gossip Girl's Ed Westwick might not know fashion, but he's so obsessed with music it's resulted in some hardcore body art. ‘I've got "Heartbreak Hotel" tattooed on my chest. And I've got "21 Grams", "Love Me Two Times", the song by The Doors. I have "I Heart Romance" on my forearm and "You Make Me Feel Like The One" across my shoulder.' Couldn't you have given us a sneak peek, Ed? [Interview]

Michelle Obama isn't feeling the crunch. She wore a $2,000 Sophie Theallet dress the other day. Let's hope she's been taking a leaf out of Sarah Brown's book and started renting her clothes? [NY Magazine]

Mind you, the people still love Michelle Obama. Her Vogue cover, where she wore clothes she handpicked from J. Crew and Jason Wu, sold 560,000 copies on the newsstand, just edging out their most recent best-selling issue on the newsstand in September 2008, which hit 559,000 copies. [WWD]

We like model Karlie Kloss's attitude to the recession though. When asked for her spring must-haves she replies, ‘White T-shirts, jeans, and whatever trade the designers will be throwing my way.' [FabSugar]
