Now we don't like to trivialise a pandemic. But if you, like us, have been lying awake at night analysing every cough, images of 28 Days Later flashing through your mind, we thought you might appreciate the way fashion seems to find a way to conquer even the most serious world issues. Step forward London-based designer Dr Noki, who is famous for dressing his catwalk models in exotic surgical masks – we're talking dripping in beading, or Spiderman graphics – and has been wearing a face mask in public for over a decade now. ‘My mother detests it but it's an arresting image,' he has said. ‘It may not be attractive, but it's my own form of branding.'
