UPDATE: Michelle Obama wears Japanese designer to the Opera

02 April 2009

It's her second day in the capital, and while Barack Obama and Gordon Brown attend the G20 summit in East London, Mrs O is at Covent Garden's Royal Opera House alongside Sarah Brown to meet with the wives and partners of all participating politicians. Both First Ladies opted for a blue palette, with Michelle in a colourful cardigan over a dress and Sarah going for a more demure navy hue. Oh, and our spies tell us Mrs O was also introduced to Mario Testino at the event, so watch this space!

UPDATE: Whilst Michelle went for another Jason Wu dress this morning, her bold argyle cardigan was by ex-Comme des Garçons protege Junya Watanabe. The Japanese born designer started his own line under the label back in 1993, and is renowned for his futuristic take on statement clothing. Meanwhile, Sarah Brown played it safe in another Graeme Black ensemble, with Russell & Bromley shoes and Pippa Small jewellery. How very British!
