Karl Lagerfeld's new muse

25 March 2009

Karl Lagerfeld loves a muse. Hell! He even cited himself as his own muse for a handbag and luggage range. Inès de La Fressange, Amy Winehouse, Beth Ditto and Emma Watson are but a few of Karl's girls, and up until recently his number one main man was American model Brad Kroenig. He was discovered by the designer back in 2004 and popped straight on to a Fendi ad, consequently becoming an integral part of Karl's notoriously dedicated entourage. Unfortunately for Brad, he's got a wee young nipper biting at his heels called Baptiste Giabiconi, Karl's new French-boy muse, who's earned his right of way by being shot by Lagerfeld in a rather fetching look of cardigan + heels (nothing else) for the latest issue of French Vogue. 'He looks like me – well, maybe a better-looking version of me from a long time ago,' says Karl, which is a seal of approval if we ever heard one! Add to that a healthy sprinkling of Spring campaigns for Fendi, Chanel and Armani Jeans, plus the fact that the whole office here is in a dizzy state of lust, and we can predict only good things from here on out for Baptiste.
