Fashion's love affair with Slumdog Millionaire continues. John Galliano was first to reference the Oscar-winning film at the Dior couture show in Paris. Then Freida Pinto became the must-have FROW guest - taking pride of place at Dolce & Gabbana and Chanel. Now, the child stars of Slumdog Millionaire are having their fashion moment! Rubina Ali and Azharuddin Ismail (who played little Latika and Jamal in the movie) took to the catwalk for Indian Fashion Week last night. Eight-year-old Rubina twirled her multi-layered gypsy skirt for designers Ashima and Leena Singh and Azharuddin insisted he wasn't nervous as he danced to Slumdog's Oscar-winning song Jai Ho. ‘I am never afraid,' he grinned. It's the latest step in the rags-to-riches story for the kids who were picked from the slums to star in the film. And it seems like Hollywood's rubbed off on them already. ‘I think my dress has already become very dirty because of my playing around so much here. They'll have to do something about that,' Azharuddin said, whilst running around outside before the show. Meanwhile, Rubina was keeping hers very clean. ‘I like the skirt very much and want to take it back with me to Mumbai,' she said with a grin. ‘The belt that I'm wearing is also very nice - I'm taking that too.' That's our kinda girl! [Times of India]
