Morning round-up: Freida Pinto in talks to be the next Bond girl, and why Valentino loves pugs

18 March 2009

We all know Jennifer Aniston's been expressing an interest in starring alongside resident hottie Daniel Craig as the next Bond girl, but it looks like Freida Pinto's beaten her to it. Apparently, the young actress came to the attention of the 007 team when they were casting Quantum Of Solace, but was considered too young (she's 24). Given Slumdog's success, we bet they're kicking themselves now... [The Sun]

Salma Hayek's been keeping busy and is carving a second career for herself away from the movies. She's reportedly launching her own line of anti-ageing products after three years of research, named after her maternal grandmother Maria Luisa. Well, if it will help us age like Salma, count us in! Looks like Valentino's still busy doing the talk show rounds to promote new docu-flick Valentino: The Last Emperor. After sitting down on Oprah's sofa for a chat this week, he appeared on old friend Martha Stewart's show to talk domestic bliss. ‘We both love gardens, fashion, pets (especially dogs) and great beauty,' said Martha before filming began, which totally explains the designer's seemingly random statement mid-sentence: ‘I always have a big passion for pugs.' Nice. [WWD]

You might have noticed our wee obsession with Gossip Girl, but now that Chuck-Bass-playing Ed Westwick is fast becoming the latest fashionista on the block, we can't help but say we told you so. The Brit actor took himself down to Barneys to view the S/S ’09 Burberry menswear collection, and greeted Christopher Bailey like a long-lost friend. Watch this space! [PopSugar]
