Charlotte Ronson jetted over from New York for a whistle-stop stay to hang out with family and introduce her S/S ’09 collection, the first time her label has been available in the UK, exclusively to Harrods. Attending a Bar Mitzvah with her mother, sister Sam and Lyndsay Lohan (both out and about in London town), and keeping a low profile at family dinners, Charlotte has always been the quiet Ronson sibling. Clearly, she has been keeping her head down and concentrating on her collections. Designing since she was a teenager, Charlotte launched her first collection in 2000, but S/S '09 is a coming of age, and was the first season to be shown at Bryant Park during New York Fashion Week. Comprising cute floral chiffon dresses, sexy knits and even sexier denim, bright summer colours and simple basics, it is as girly as it is tough, and was influenced by what Ronson and her friends were listening to and wearing in the mid-‘80s through the early ‘90s.
We also got a preview of the A/W collection, which has more of a rock theme and is less girly, although the elements are still there – complete with great leather and tweed biker jackets, plaid shirts and hardcore boots, which, of course, we've already seen on fans including Gwen Stefani, Nicole Richie and Li-Lo. We thought that seating the A-list crowd at the Dolce & Gabbana show was hard enough, but how does Charlotte deal with all her LA and NY star fans at Bryant Park? 'I just allocate a front row to them,' revealed her NY PR, Matt, 'and let them fight it out!'
