While we work on show reports, party gossip and FROW-spotting, here's this morning's non LFW-related headlines. Well, sort of.

What do New York designers do when they're done with Fashion Week? Party, it seems. Donna Karan, Calvin Klein, Diane von Furstenberg, Zac Posen, L'Wren Scott and Tom Ford hit the Vanity Fair Oscars party. [FWD]

Meanwhile, Michelle Obama – or should that be Glambama? – hosted her first black-tie dinner at the White House. She wore a purple, sequinned dress by Peter Soronen, a Chicago-born designer who (quelle surprise) made his debut at this New York Fashion Week. [NY Mag]

Shock news! Nicky Hilton has got frugal: ’I'm being smarter about my spending. I'm not going into stores and buying anything. I am buying more pieces instead of just a bunch of clothes.' [WWD]

Nicholas Hoult is a pretty face. But he doesn't do fashion – even though model Jasmine Guinness spent a lot of time trying to persuade him otherwise at the MAC party. ‘Don't get me wrong, they're friendly, the fashion people, they let me in. I can't help finding the whole thing strange.' [Telegraph]

Liberty Ross has advice for ladies who live in fear of taking a tumble on heels: ‘I wear my straps really tight so that the high heels feel like an extension of my leg. And I take cabs.' [WWD]
