All eyes were on Savannah and Sienna Miller for their label Twenty8Twelve's first appearance at London Fashion Week last night – well, when said eyes could be dragged away from the first truly star-studded front row (Lydia Hearst, Alexa Chung, Matthew Williamson, Leigh Lezark, Roisin Murphy). So we slipped backstage to grab an exclusive chat with the Miller sisters as they did the final preparations.
As the models ran around being braided and buffed to perfection, Sienna and Savannah were buzzing with nerves and excitement (Sienna had the bitten nails to prove it!). 'This collection is intended for a girl who's independent and free-spirited but not intimidating,' said Sienna. 'Doing a show is a dream come true for us – just having to think about the whole production with hair, make-up, music and everything is so different from just designing a collection.'
'We were going to go with really strong make-up. We could have gone so many different ways with the whole look,' added the design duo. ‘Then we saw that we'd got the most beautiful models from New York and went for something more pared-back and simple.'
And how it is working with your sister? Any catfights over the collection? Apparently not! The pair reckon they complement each other perfectly when it comes to the whole design process. 'I'd say Sienna is more of a risk-taker,' says older sister, Savannah. 'I tend to be the more classic one.'
You could tell by the way the sisters skipped on to the catwalk, giggling and holding hands, at the end of the show they were relieved it had been so well received. ‘Seeing Jourdan in our final piece – a green sequin dress – was an absolutely killer moment!' But no time to rest – it was straight on to Whiskey Mist for an after-party that went on throughout the night. Well for Sienna that is. Once she'd popped some Tylenol to get rid of her headache from the stress of the day plus jet-lag from her recent trip to LA she rocked the dance floor with Matthew Williamson in tow. Her sister Savannah meanwhile had to hot foot it home because she needed to breast-feed her new born baby. Bless!
