The Milan show might not be for a week or so but that doesn't mean the new Burberry headquarters in London isn't already buzzing with activity. We've heard that Kings of Leon have just left the new Horseferry House offices after being kitted out in Burberry gear for tonight's Brits. And they're not the first stars to make a beeline to check out the showrooms at the Westminster venue designed by Gensler (of Apple Store and London Stock Exchange fame) and carefully overseen by Burberry Creative Director (and covert architecture fan) Christopher Bailey so it mirrors the quintessentially British values of the brand. ‘I'm very proud of the building. It's such an amazing beacon for our brand. This office became a bit of a labour of love for me and I feel incredibly privileged to have worked on this project with my amazing team,' he said. ‘Horseferry House is so much more than a building. It's very symbolic of the company – we have so much momentum and energy bubbling over right now and I wanted to unify the creativity and the dynamic attitude of all the employees that are driving this company forward.' The entire Burberry staff has relocated there in a move that's apparently all about operational efficiency. As if they needed it. Because we've also heard the new A/W '09 collection follows themes apparent in the menswear show. ‘Modern nostalgia – referencing the evocative images of Bill Brandt's England, the collection is calm, earnest and poetic,' Christopher Bailey said of the oversized and tapered collection at the time. So we're expecting similar things from Milan next week: a muted colour palette (charcoal, black peacock, bottle green and winter ruby) and those washed out cotton poplins and linens. We can't wait...
