She's one of London's most influential fashion players, having managed the likes of Gareth Pugh, Danielle Scutt, Roksanda Ilincic and Henry Holland, guiding them from fashion newbies to industry leaders. So who better to catch up with pre-London Fashion Week than maverick PR Mandi Lennard? She talks troublesome journalists, beauty preparation and tips for surviving four days of fashion madness...
* What have you bought wardrobe-wise in preparation for LFW?
Nothing. I really want some Comme des Garcons, but I was sick (with never-ending flu) when Dover Street Market got their first delivery and by the time I was better, there wasn't much left.
* What beauty treatments have you/will you have?
I'll try to have some downtime at Anna Nails on Mile End Road. Probably a pedicure where the chair massages your back and a full-on nail refill with tiger stripe tips.
* I can't get through Fashion Week without…
Abby, my PR sista.
* What's your tactic for dealing with stressed journalists/buyers?
Shove a Mini Moet in their hand.
*Worst show you have ever seen?
Anything at 9am.
* Worst thing that can happen at a show?
The ceiling crumbling in a decrepit East End warehouse; happened at Fashion East one season and everyone left with dandruff.
*What aspect of Fashion Week are you most excited about?
Seeing the designers pull it off.
* Most worried about...
*The thing you're most secretive about...
I love Emmerdale.
*The thing you're most nervous about...
Missing someone off the credit sheet.
*Mantra for the month:
'Let it unfold.'
I want it to be my Chanel quilted silver dog tag earrings, but if I hold my mobile to my ear, they end the call, so it will probably be the lump of coal I stole from the fireplace in 10 Downing Street.
*Fashion tip for A/W ‘09?
Anything from Gareth Pugh's first men's collection.
*Music playing in your studio?
TI Paper Trail, Best of Loose Ends, and Gang Starr's Moment Of Truth to burn the midnight oil.
*What do you eat at LFW?
More to come tomorrow, so check back then...
